THE REVELATION OF GOD

Genesis 17:1 And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.

In the old testament, God revealed Himself to His people by different names. It will do you a lot of good to study those names of God in the Old Testament. God revealed Himself as Elshaddai, meaning “The Strong Breasted One” ; it speaks of the maternal side of God, being able to nourish and supply your needs.

One time God met Moses and told him that there is a new revelation in town which your fathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob did not know. Exodus 6:2‭-‬3 says, “And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the Lord: And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name Jehovah was I not known to them.”

This means that Abraham never knew God as Jehovah – he only knew Him as Elshaddai – this was the revelation that Abraham journeyed with all his life. When it was time to bring Israel out of the house of bondage, He had to reveal Himself as Jehovah; because as Elshaddai He could not bring them out. It was going to take the revelation of Jehovah to get Israel out of bondage. Jehovah is the man of war who is present in the camp.

God has so many sides; and it will take revelation to know Him well and until you get to see certain sides of God by revelation, you cannot walk in that light. For instance, there are believers who know God as their Saviour through Jesus, but don’t have the revelation of healing and prosperity.

Thus, you see them as very nice Christians but sick and broke. Jesus isn’t only your Saviour from sins, He also bore your sickness and poverty. You can be healthy and prosperous when you get this revelation of God.

Jesus is your healer; Jesus is your ransom from sins; Jesus is your righteousness; Jesus is your provider; Jesus is your sanctification; Jesus is your wisdom so that you do not have to walk in foolishness and grope in the dark; Jesus is your light to chart your way through this dark world. The more revelation you have of God, the better life becomes. Today, all of God’s revelation is found in Jesus. The more you know Jesus, the more you will know God. Jesus is God’s revelation to man.
